We packed a lunch and munchies, including our warm woollies and headed into the mountains for the day.
We were greeted with beautiful blue skies and a fierce wind that made some of the drive rather interesting.( and some of the walk a little fresh!)
We headed to our all time favourite spot - Cascade Ponds. We had the place to ourselves and loads and loads of snow to go trudging through. Rory was bundled up snug and warm in his sled and ready for his winter hike around the ponds. (And even over the ponds with snow up to our knees!)

Rosy cheeks and runny noses - we were ready for our warm car and a trip into Banff for a spot of lunch. What a fantastic day for a hike. It was so quietly peaceful and serene. I would be very content of building myself an igloo, starting up a fire and just sitting there enjoying the magical feeling the mountains radiate.
A little treat to warm up our cold bones - our favourite cafe in Banff - Evelyn's. Lindsay and I devoured this delicious hot chocolate, while Rory munched on some Goldfish crackers.
A wonderful day away from the hustle and bustle of city life and the daily grid of life. We are all looking forward to our next adventure to the mountains. Rory seems to be able to enjoy the mountains more and more each time we go. How long will it be before we are chasing him along the trails and down from trees??
All that fresh mountain air made Rory very silly when we arrived home. He spotted that my sunnies and phone were left unattended and went for them with great success.
