Kananaskis camping

Kananaskis Camping Adventure 2015

After a brief time at home we repacked and reloaded the camping gear and headed once again to those majestic Rocky Mountains.  This time our destination was a little closer, Lower Lakes in Kananaskis Country.

Our second day in the mountains began with an awesome hike at one of our favourite spots - The Canadian Mount Everest Expedition Trail.  The first time for Cam outside of the backpack carrier - his little legs hike the entire trail! ( Minus the help from daddy up some pretty huge log steps!)

The trail winds through a forest and then the switchbacks begin and we hike up and up and up. We are almost at the top!

We made it!!! Hurrah!!

The view from the top never disappoints! Awesome!
Time for a few family shots!

Rory is becoming quite the little photographer - he took the one above of Lindsay and me.

After all that hiking Cameron is still all smiles and cheeky grins!

After the hike we headed back 'home' to the campsite to fill up with some lunch and then it was off to do a new activity this summer - fishing! The boys were introduced to these great little beginner practice fishing rods from some friends of ours.  And they proved to be an awesome hit this summer! It's no longer, "Can we throw rocks?" it's now, "Can we going fishing???"

Our favourite rock throwing spot is now our favourite fishing spot!

We easily spent hours fishing on this camping trip.

Another day we headed to another close by hike at Marl Lake. Again the fishing rods were strapped to by backpack and the boys spent ages fishing off the dock here!

Our intrepid hiker and leader, Rory leading us back down the path to the car.

Yes, we are back fishing again for one more time before the weather changes on us and treats us to some serious mountain thunder storms! Thunder always sounds so powerful and loud in the mountains.

We also enjoyed lots of biking this trip as well - our favourite ice cream stop even had some for Cameron to have!! Now that was the best part!!

This is my favourite shot - cannot believe how grown up they look!!!
We had an absolute wonderful time and can't wait to head back to the mountains again soon!!

Here are a few more parting shots and videos! Enjoy!

BC Camping Trip

Hello from British Columbia!

We ventured a little further west this summer for our camping adventure to Redstreak, BC. With milder nights and more predictable weather we packed the car and the kiddos and we were off!

The boys loved every minute of the beautiful weather, the nearby park, endless walks and exploring the wooded areas and Rory turned into a mountain biker star!

All smiles after a short morning hike near our campsite.

Cool dude Rory!!

One evening we ventured into Radium for the boys first ever mini putt mayhem!! Cam was all for it for the first few holes and then the rocks and the bricks were much more fun to climb and jump off! Rory did pretty well, except he kept picking up his ball and putting it where he wanted it to go! Too funny. Glad it wasn't too busy as we played the same hole a few times!

A little nervous, Cam was looking up at the chairlift we were about the head up on!

Once we were all loaded on we went up and up and up to the top of the mountain where we did a little hike to "Fort Hide and Seek" .  The boys were awesome on the chair lift - notice my nervous hand with the death grip on Rory's arm! Mama not so good with chair lifts, but kept on a brave face after seeing my boys take it in stride.

On our homeward journey we stopped off at Marble Canyon - a beautiful hike along a winding canyon carved by the river.

The boys were absolutely in awe of the fast flowing water and the huge waterfall at the end of the hike. Cam kept asking to be picked up to look over the edge of the bridges - he loved it!

Take a peek of some the videos of the boys!

We are so proud of how Rory's biking has improved - especially on this trip. He was always asking for a ride. He went from a wobbly road rider to a down right 'gnarly' single track, through the trees bike rider! Way to go Rory!!!
We loved our new camping spot and will be sure to return next summer.
Next adventure.....our old favourite Kananaskis!!
Look out bears here we come!!
