Stormwatch!

We had another bout of storms blow through last night. At least this time I wasn't driving and was able to be on the balcony to snap some photos!
It was crazy dark and we had rain, hail, lightening, thunder, wind and a very quick drop in temperatures. We even had some blue sky and sun during parts of the storm. It was quite bizarre. Here are some pics as the storm developed, hit and then moved on.

The little white specs are actually hail.

The sky was constantly changing and the storm moved through rather quickly.

More summer fun

Last weekend we enjoyed a hot and sunny afternoon of swimming, water fights, snacks and a delicious BBQ with the Snider crew. Once again Rory loved the water - this time trying desperately to blow bubbles in the water but usually ending up with a mouthful of water instead. This never deterred him from plunging his head into the water again and again! Quite entertaining for all the onlookers.

Rory has absolutely no fear of the water! Which is awesome - so some swimming lessons for the winter are a must!

And then Rory found the buckets - what better way to stay cool then to dump water all over yourself??

Thanks again to the Snider clan for another fun summer afternoon!

Grassi Lakes

We ventured into the mountains yesterday to enjoy a beautiful summers day hiking. Canmore was the destination and one of our favourite hikes at Grassi Lakes is where we spent most of the morning. Rory was in the backpack carrier and seem to enjoy the view and the occasional tickling of daddy's neck and ears!

The town of Canmore, the view after a climb on a rocky stairway.

A beautiful waterfall along the trail.

The outstanding reflections at the top - Grassi Lakes.

We stopped for a snack and let the little dude roam for a while.

And of course where there are rocks and water - rock throwing with daddy!

Another great day in the mountains - trying to squeeze as much in as we can as the days of summer are coming to a close.

Fountains!

We wandered down to a near by park this weekend to let Rory roam through the walkways. We got far more than we bargained for, as the water fountains were on full steam and this perked Rory's interest.

Rory was very hesitant at first, not quite sure what to make of this spurting water. He walked around the fountains a few times with some ''ooooo's" and then got brave enough to just tap his hand in near the edge. This lasted about 10 minutes before he got the courage up (with some encouragement from daddy) to run between the fountains and through the water.

And well that was that - no fear Rory was all for this new found 'waterpark' fun. Running between the fountains, putting his hand right over the squirting water - giggling the entire time.

Always checking with mum and dad, just to make sure he was allowed to be having so much fun in the water.

Ahhhh this feels so nice!

A still somewhat nervous and curious Rory.

Then the downright fearless Rory - who unfortunately never realized that when the water stops it always comes back on! Rory was absolutely soaked - but Lindsay and I enjoyed the laugh.

A quiet moment with dad to end a fun 'walk' to the park.

Storm!

We had a vicious and freak storm here on Friday evening. It seem to have come out of nowhere and came with such a force that roads were flooded in minutes and cars were left stranded. There was wind, rain, hail, lightening and thunder. I've never experienced a storm with such intensity. Even though it didn't last too long, it kicked the butt of some the Ontario storms I remember.
Linds took some pics and video from the safety of our balcony. I however was driving (well not really driving, more aquaplaning through flooded roads and hoping we would not have hail damage on the car!) pass stranded, flooded out cars and near zero visibility. (and cursing that I didn't have my camera!) The sound of the hail on the car roof was unbelievable!

All the white stuff is actually hail on the rooftops. It had looked like we had snow! It was a bizarre storm and caught everyone off guard. Gotta love mountain weather!

Summer FUN!!

Our cool summer dude!

We hope you are all enjoying the summer sun. We have had some beautiful weather over the last few weeks and have been lucky to be able to house sit the Snider casa while they are on their camping adventure. Rory has absolutely loved time in their backyard.

I've never seen Rory's feet move so fast from one thing to the next. He was excited the entire time!

First it's to the pool, then the playset, then a swing ride, then a lap of the backyard, then to the pea gravel and the diggers, then back to the house, then up on the deck and and and....then a dip in the pool...

With all that running around under the hot summer sun, what better way to cool off then a dip in a paddling pool and a refreshing pail full of water! Rory loved doing this time after time and even did the same thing with a bucket of pea gravel.

Lots of giggles and smiles to share!

Enjoying a relaxing afternoon in the pool. I can't believe how grown up Rory looks in this photo - our little boy loved the water!

We have been filling our weekends with bike rides to Fish Creek with some snack breaks and of course throwing rocks at our favourite spot along the creek!

A new summer favourite this year for Rory has been corn on the cob. Rory won't just settle for the corn cut off the cob, oh no Rory has to eat the corn off the cob like mum and dad. He devoured the entire cob all by himself!

Happy summer days!!!
