Family Christmas

Merry Christmas!

We hope Santa found you all and delivered some lovely treats for you to enjoy.

We've had a wonderful couple of days. On Christmas Eve we went to Spruce Meadows and Rory skated for the first time (photos to follow later) and we tried out their curling rink too.  Loads of fun and lots and lots of giggles.

The rocks were pretty heavy and Rory kept forgetting to let go. Rory is looking forward to some coaching tips from his curling pro cousin Aidan.

Christmas Eve ended with a family tradition story of Twas the night before Christmas.

Christmas morning began very early with two very excited boys. Santa had arrived and delivered some goodies under our tree.  He even gobbled up some treats we left for him and the reindeer.

Waiting patiently for the prezzies.

The Augustine's on Christmas morning.

Always time for cuddles with mum.

A very excited Rory opening some Lego.

Lots of ohhhs and ahhhs from Cameron as he opened his firetruck.

We were thinking about regifting this one!! Hahaha - our morning was full of laughs and silliness. As it turns out the boys seemed to be more interested in each others gifts than their own.

Rory showing Cam all about his new firetruck.

A fun new game from Santa called Fasttrack had Rory in fits of giggles this evening playing with daddy.
The house is now quiet and very messy but what a wonderful day full of many memories.
Merry Christmas from the Augustine's

Winter fun

Hello all! Yes we are still here - sorry again for the lack of photos and updates.
Here is a whole bunch for you to ponder.

We visited the very festive Spruce Meadows Christmas Show, where Rory got up close and personal with a couple of Santa's reindeer.

Rory's market purchase - a classic wooden spinning top.  He's getting the hang of it.

A cold snap froze one of our favourite walking spots - Fish Creek. We spent an afternoon walking on the creek instead of along side it.  Rory even dug in the snow to find a few rock to bounce of the frozen creek.

Cam was bundled up snug and warm enjoying the wintery scenery.

`Hey mum, look at me!!`

We also checked out Once Upon a Christmas at Heritage Park this year.
It was chilly day, but we all loved the Christmas train exhibit and did a few crafts.

We have also had some pretty frigid weather over the last month - days where with the wind chill it was in the minus 30`s.  Way too cold for these little munchkins to venture out.  All they could do was watch the snow continue to fall outside, wondering when it would stop.

Plenty of time inside to find silly things to do to keep us amused!

Some exciting news - our favourite local spot, the zoo, finally reopened completely after the devastating floods in June.  It was awesome to visit our old friends again.  Rory seems to have made a new friend with the hippo. They sat there staring at each other for over 10 minutes.

Finally we had a chinook wind and we had some fun out in the snow. Even Cam was enjoying a sleigh ride and crawling around in the funny white stuff in our yard.

Some of our wintery weather.

Rory has become quite the helper with all the shoveling.

And one last parting video of Cam standing up for the first time just this past weekend. How our lives are about to change again - with soon to be two boys running around our house!

Grammie visits

We were very lucky to have a very special visitor - Grammie came for a visit! We filled our time with stories, games, more stories, giggles, drawing, colouring, racing cars, building Lego, cuddles, more Lego and our favourite part was sharing one of our favourite mountain hikes to Grassie Lakes. One of my favourite moments was seeing the boys gigantic smiles every morning when Grammie was waiting downstairs for her morning cuddles with them.
Enjoy a few pics from our week.

Cameron looking dapper for a dinner out with Grammie.

A beautiful day for a hike in the mountains - I however didn't remember the hike up being so steep!

A fantastic rest spot - mountain views, pretzels and chocolate Goldfish. What a hill!

Snug as a bug in a rug!! Cameron cozied up in the backpack carrier with daddy.

Still all smiles - almost at the top - what a view!!!

Grassi Lakes - Daddy and Cam taking in the view of the Lakes.

After a little digging Rory managed to chip out a few frozen rocks to throw into the Lake.

Ahhhh....after a warm hot chocolate at the top we made our way down the mountain.
What an awesome winter hike in the mountains!!

Having some quiet time colouring with Grammie.

Always time for a quick story or two in our cozy reading nook.

After hiking all the way to the top Rory enjoyed a 'ride' down

Thanks for an awesome visit Grammie - and for all of your help and for looking after the boys so Linds and I could head for a breaky and coffee!  We are counting the days till we will see you and Grandpa again!!

Some pics of Fall Fun

Happy Fall! This is one of my favourite times of the year.  The cool crisp mornings, gorgeous fall colours, walks and lots of playing in the leaves! Our boys have been loving this time of year as well over the last few weeks.  We've been busy with raking our lawn, lots of hikes and most of all lots and lots of FUN!!! Enjoy the huge update of photos from the last couple of weeks with the Augustine's!

Backyard fun!
Cameron has discovered how fun exploring can be.  For a long time Cam never ventured too far as he didn't like the feel of the grass on his hands. Well no more - this little explorer motors across our backyard and back again without any hesitation and loves it!
He has even been helping big brother Rory with some leaf clearing up.

It's not safe in our backyard when it comes to raking up the leaves.  Rory is always on the prowl for his next victim of leaf throwing!

The Augustine's have discovered a new gem for the whole family to enjoy - Heritage Park. We've visited a couple of times and discovered more things each time.  Rory loves the big steam trains.

We had a little ride around the park on the train - both boys loved it!

Rory and I took a warmer seat for part of the ride and enjoyed the beautiful scenery passing us by.

Climbing through the cabooses were a hit for both Linds and Rory.  What a wonderful display of old trains.  Rory was especially excited to see a real life sized turntable - just like on Thomas.

An old fashioned Amusement Park had all the Augustine's enjoying a carousel ride.

Choo Choo!!!!!

We were lucky enough to enjoy this Saturday morning with the Snider family at a new hiking spot for us - Sandy Cross.

Trudging along the trail through the fallen leaves.

Beautiful golden yellows!! Rory taking it all in and scouting out a good spot for a snack of some freshly made trail mix!!

Rory tried desperately to keep up with all his cousins but those little legs just didn't make it.

Oh those spectacular mountains - and yes that's snow on the mountains and on the trail.

Made it to the top of a really big hill!! It was well worth the 360 degree view of the mountains, the foothills and downtown Calgary.

The walk back to the car - what a fantastic way to spend the first morning of a long weekend.  Thanks for sharing this fantastic spot!

Here are some pics of an earlier trip to Fish Creek - just mom and the boys.

It's never too chilly for some rock throwing.

Rory standing tall.

Rory and Cam 'playing' together in the dirt!! They loved it and their clothes showed it.

Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving. We are so grateful for our healthy, happy and entertaining little clan.
